In wake of slaying of 2 registered sex offenders, lawyer plans to push for changes to registry
"In the wake of the slaying of two registered sex offenders near Port Angeles last weekend, a local attorney said Thursday he will push for changes to the public sex offender registry that he believes stigmatizes hundreds of ex-offenders who no longer pose a danger to the community.
"It's hard for the public to know who they should be afraid of, who they should keep an eye on," attorney
The lawyer said the registry is too broad and persecutes low-level sex offenders who have been punished and are trying to rebuild their lives.
He said he will be lobbying state lawmakers later this month to change the system."
