Villagers warned over ‘vigilante behaviour’ towards paedophile [sic]

"CONCERNED parents [sic] have been warned not to take the law into their own hands after discovering a paedophile [sic] living in Surfleet.

"A number of parents have written comments regarding hounding PT out of his home or physically harming him on social networking sites such as Facebook after it was revealed in Tuesday’s Lincolnshire Free Press that he was living with his wife Nicola in SER.

But Insp Chris Davison, of Spalding Police, said such reactions were unhelpful [sic] when dealing with paedophiles [sic] as it could force them to “go underground”.

Vigilante behaviour doesn’t allow us to assist with their rehabilitation and can drive them underground, meaning it is impossible for us to control their behaviour or manage the risk they pose to the community.

“So my message to worried parents [sic] would be to not take the law into your own hands because it could end up driving them away from the effective controls that are in place to keep the community safe.”

It is believed T moved to Surfleet recently after being hounded out of his previous home in Scotland after worried mums [sic] began a Facebook campaign.

His whereabouts was revealed in The Sun newspaper which claimed that he was attending toy fairs frequented by children to help his wife on her teddy bear stall."

Anger over paedophile [sic] story

"I’ve seen lots of comments on Facebook from parents who would quite clearly like to rip convicted paedophile [sic] PT limb from limb after we revealed he is now living in SER, Surfleet."

Comment:

Here is some advice, Inspector Davison, to you and your senior colleagues.

Take a few of them into custody, for Prevention of Breach of The Peace and/or a number of Public Order/Malicious Communications etc Offences. Do not dress it up in the (although quite possible) 'underground' argument.

This man and his family are the victims or prejudice, persecution and vigilante actions, online and off and it must stop; that is all that needs to be said.

This man and his family are The Public, as much as anyone else, and require Protection (and they are Vulnerable, as you are well aware) more than anyone else.

Do not bow to the ruthless and ignorant mob, squash it and show little mercy, in doing so.
